The Adventure Begins

(10 May) The point of this blog will be to document my experiences while I spend one year studying with the Indian military. The year began with Jodi taking me to the airport to catch my flight from St. Louis to Chicago, where I'd pick up a non-stop connection to Delhi. Apparently, leaving for a year in India wasn't exciting enough for the Pentagon Passport Office. Due to their bureaucratic shenanigans I didn't get my official passport and visa until literally four hours before leaving for the airport. Anyway...based on a quick eyeball of any globe, you'll notice that Delhi is almost 180 degrees of longitude difference from Chicago. That means that my 15-hour flight was about as far as you can go East before it would've been quicker to go West. The flight was surprisingly comfortable and uneventful, and my year in India was finally about to begin...
